Preview: The IKO EAFL goes on tour!

Writes: Edward Perry

The IKO EAFL returns and this time supporters on the south coast will be able to watch another exciting round of fixtures on Saturday (24th May).

This season sees EAFA league action taking place around the country and Pompey In The Community host gameweek four at The John Jenkins Stadium in Portsmouth.

Named after the D-Day veteran and lifelong Portsmouth fan John Jenkins, the new ground will see the best amputee footballers in the country, and the world, feature for table toppers Everton, Chelsea and hosts Portsmouth.

Spectators are welcome to experience The IKO EAFL live, with Portsmouth and Everton kicking off proceedings at 12.30.

In April, Everton rose above Pompey in the table following a 2-1 win and will want to increase that advantage as they defend their league title. Portsmouth will hope that a home crowd can spur them on to close the three point gap between the teams.

Fixtures between Everton and Portsmouth have produced many matches to remember, including last season’s 3-2 FA Disability Cup win for the south coast side. With the attacking talents of Rhyce Ramsden and Jamie Tregaskiss facing top stoppers in Kieran Lambourne and Thomas Atkinson, this tie is another mouthwatering prospect that could go either way.

Meanwhile, an ever improving Chelsea side have picked up wins in each gameweek this season and any victory they get on Saturday could have huge ramifications in the title race.

England captain Harry Ash and new signing Matt Dean both won the Champions League last season for Wisla Krakow and their partnership is paying dividends for Chelsea in 2025. The Londoners pose a real threat in PO3 this weekend.

Come and join The EAFA and Pompey In The Community as The IKO EAFL goes on tour and watch amputee football live in Portsmouth.
