Louis Mayers Leaves EAFA Coaching Team

Writes: Evan Halliday

Louis Mayers bids farewell to EAFA after almost three years of dedication on the touchline and in the dugout.

In February 2022 Mayers loved the idea of working with a charity and the prospect of working with elite athletes at EAFA was something he couldn’t miss out on.

He said, “I decided to join EAFA as it was such an opportunity that I couldn’t ignore.

“To work with elite amputee athletes was unique and it aligned with my passion for football and a chance to develop my coaching abilities.”

Over the course of his time at the charity, he became an integral part to the technical team of our men’s national side and will be sorely missed by all involved.

Throughout Mayers’ 34 months of hard work, he enjoyed and played a crucial part in one of EAFA’s most successful periods.

“I’ve had some great moments with the team but my favourite is of course the 2023 Nations League Championship win,” he said.

“Supporting the team to leave our mark on history is something I’ll always be proud of and never forget.”

On his decision to step away, Mayers emphasised how difficult it was to make.

He said, “it has been a very difficult decision as everyone connected to the charity has made my time involved a memorable one.

“I step back, proud of my impact on the players and grateful to have worked alongside some incredible people.”

“Although I’ll no longer be involved in EAFA operations, I’ll always be connected to the charity, supporting and watching from afar.”

Everyone at the England Amputee Football Association extends their gratitude to Louis Mayers for the commitment and time he volunteered to the charity across numerous training weekends and tournaments abroad.

We wish you the best of luck in the next step of your career.
