This afternoon Everton go head-to-head with Portsmouth in the FA Disability Cup Final at St George’s Park, live on BT Sport.
Pompey will be hoping it’s third time lucky following successive defeats in this competition – losing to Peterborough United (2021) and Manchester City (2022). While the Toffees will be aiming to reclaim the title for the first time since beating today’s opponents in 2019.
The sides have met each other twice already this season in the EAFA League and League Cup competitions – meetings which saw the Southerners come out on top on both occasions.
Speaking ahead of today's game, Everton head coach, Mark Dolan said: “Pompey are a very strong and resilient side littered with experienced players who know the game inside out, but we’ll be ready come kick-off and hopefully be able to prove ourselves.”
In the opposite dugout, Callum Fowler (joint head coach at Portsmouth) reiterated the importance of putting the two previous meetings aside and instead, focus on the task ahead.
He said: “We are aware of the quality they have and have been putting plans into place to nullify their key threats.
“Both games have been close contests and were won by close margins. It’s important we stick to what we know in what will be a very difficult game on the biggest stage.”
So, with the tie set to be a cracker, who will be crowned champions?
A reminder that the clash will be live on BT Sport at 12:10pm and can also be found via the BT Sport app, website and YouTube channel.
