The England Amputee Football Association is proud to welcome Cambridge City FC to The EAFL ahead of the new league season.
The Lilywhites will compete for the first time at Reaseheath College next weekend (Saturday 21st February) as The England Amputee Football League 2026 calendar begins.
Alice Dewey, CEO of Cambridge City FC, said, “This partnership is something we’re incredibly proud of. Affiliating with the amputee team is about far more than football, it’s about representation, opportunity and recognising the quality of the game being played.
“We’re delighted that this team will now represent Cambridge City FC and we’re excited to support them as they compete on the national stage. This reflects the values of our club and our belief that football really is a game for everyone.”
England striker TJ Yates will make his Cambridge City debut when the league season starts next week and is looking forward to representing his new club.
“I’m absolutely buzzing to be joining Cambridge City,” Yates told The EAFA website.
“It was clear from the first conversations how ambitious the club is and how much they want to push forward. I’m grateful for the trust they’ve shown in the team and I can’t wait to get started.”
Duncan Rumbelow will be managing the new outfit, commenting that, “I’m genuinely excited to become manager of Cambridge City with this new amputee team. It’s a brilliant opportunity and a real privilege to be involved from the beginning.
“We want to build a strong, supportive squad and develop a team identity we can all be proud of. We want to be competitive, of course, but just as importantly we want to create an environment where players feel valued, backed and able to progress while enjoying their football.”
Duncan’s new role is also a proud moment for him and his family.
“It’s such an honour to be connected to Cambridge City as my father played for the club in the late 1950s. To be part of Cambridge City in this way feels extra special and I’m looking forward to what we can achieve together.”
The EAFA’s Teilo Pearce commends Cambridge City for their commitment to this new partnership, adding, “We are really excited for Cambridge City to join The EAFL. The club has shown real enthusiasm about joining The EAFA family and supporting amputee football.
“We also thank Cambridgeshire FA for their help in making this possible and we can’t wait for the new season to start.”
Cambridge City start their EAFL campaign on 21st February, with the first game of the season kicking-off at 12.00pm. It is free entry for spectators to watch the action at Reaseheath College, Nantwich.
